The hat contains a finished knit-rolled brim so is double thick for cushion and comfort while wearing versus the traditional ribbed edge.
Hat fits average head sizes listed, so if the person's head you are ordering for tends to run smaller typically in size, then order the appropriate size accordingly (i.e., smaller/larger)...
TIP: To measure, do so around mid-front forehead-to-back of head diameter or where you/they plan to wear their hat, which should be read between the size(s) measurement(s) listed below...
