Alaska Tlingit Beaded Octopus Bag in Black—11”Lx5-1/2”W in Czech Glass Beads

Alaska Tlingit Beaded Octopus Bag. (***Free S&H within the U.S.***)

The bag is meant to be unisex so was designed using a seaweed motif, including hues that will compliment both female and male.

I am the creator and a Southeast Alaska Tlingit from Yakutat Alaska.

This piece measures 11”Lx5-1/2”W, and is handmade and designed with great care to keep with our tradition.

The piece was constructed using black wool felt, with a calico cotton fabric lining, used nylon thread, and Czech Glass Beads -- all for durability.

This piece is beaded in size 11/0, 10/0 and 8/0 Czech glass beads.

The strap measures 56”L, as it’s meant to be worn ‘cross-body style.’ The drape is 38” from neck to bottom of tassels, or 26” to top edge of bag.

The bag is fully lined in calico cotton, has 8 tentacles (4 in front, 4 in back), and an open top pouch storage area.

The bag is adorned with intricate beadwork; most extensively on the front and edging, although the backside is fully edged as well.

The 8 beaded tassels on the tentacles were constructed using wool.

My "© Sandra's Artistry Alaska" label is affixed to the backside of the Octopus Bag denoting its authenticity.

The Octopus Bags were initially made by the women in the Tlingit tribe for their husbands to carry small items.
